This group sits alongside the policy group initiative with a separate remit and procedure. As well as looking at cross-cutting issues that may not sit well within any other individual policy group, we will be looking at the administrative working of the council, looking at efficiency and value for money without sacrificing quality of service. We will also look at the council decision–making process to enable effective decisions to be taken quickly whilst ensuring that residents are able to participate in meaningful consultation. The group will also examine spending implications of ideas and recommendations suggested by the other policy groups. With value for money being at the forefront of everything we are looking to achieve, this group will provide the financial lead to the other groups whilst carefully following the money within the existing Council accounts. Council Tax is one of the most loathed taxes that we pay, partly because of its visibility in that it is presented as a single bill once a year to every household. We will seek a wide range of opinions to determine priorities for spending to prevent unnecessary spending taking much-needed funding away from frontline services. Although this group is structured differently from the other five, we still want to hear from you. Where would you direct spending and why? What does the Council mean to you? Do you feel that you are able to influence decisions made on your behalf? |
